NEC Wins SA Government Future ICT Contract |

The South Australian Government today signed a major strategic deal with Australia’s leading ICT solutions service provider, NEC.
Under the agreement NEC will provide equipment, maintenance and management services for the Government’s central voice communications infrastructure.
The Government’s central infrastructure comprises of more than 35,000 phone services across the State and is one of the largest of its type in the southern hemisphere.
The current communications infrastructure network is also being upgraded to NEC’s latest Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) technology allowing the migration of end user services to IP telephony as required to support business needs.
A state-of-the-art contact centre and other sophisticated call handling features will also be provided across the network to support diverse government business needs enabling improved service delivery.
Furthermore, as part of the contract, NEC will also utilise its multi-vendor maintenance capability to manage equipment provided by other suppliers.
Managing director for NEC Business Solutions Mr Riaki Tanaka said NEC understands that cost effective, robust state-of-the-art telecommunications systems are pivotal to the operation of any Government.
He said “NEC is proud to be entrusted with supporting the State Government’s voice infrastructure and to be part of one of the first major contracts to be announced as part of the Government’s Future ICT Program”.
“NEC has a solid history providing trusted and technologically advanced communications solutions to business and government through its South Australian State Office. This includes for example Emergency Services (Police, Fire, Ambulance), the ‘000’ service, hospitals and most major corporations.”
