UNIVERGE

NEC Business Solutions releases UNIVERGE

Release Date : Monday, 04 Oct 2004

In to Toyota’s new Melbourne headquarters went NEC’s UNIVERGE. Out went everything we knew about the office. In went a gigabit wireless network. Out went the blue cables. This means anyone can take their laptop anywhere in the building and stay connected.
In addition NEC installed the UNIVERGE Unified Messaging System. This led Toyota to throw out all their fax machines. Faxes now go straight to the receiver’s computer. They can then view, forward or reply to it.
With the inclusion of NEC’s IP SoftPhone the handset became optional. Workers need only an earpiece and SoftPhone installed on their laptop. They can roam the building or walk into Toyota’s Sydney offices, log in and receive calls as if they were at their desk in Melbourne.
